International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON)
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), known colloquially as the Hare Krishna movement, is a Gaudiya Vaishnava religious organization. ISKCON was founded in 1966 in New York City by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (Srila Prabhupada). Ikscon follows the teachings of Veda and Vedic scriptures including the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam and the Bhagavad-gītā, both of which, according to the traditional Hindu view, date back more than 5,000 years. The distinctive appearance of the movement and its culture come from the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, which has had adherents in India since the late 15th century and Western converts since the early 1930s.
ISKCON is managed by the GBC (Governing Body Commission). H.H Jayapataka Swami is the GBC, H.H Kavicandra Swami is the co-GBC and H.H B.V.V Narasimha Swami is the regional secretary of Thailand. H.H Vedavyasa Priya Swami, H.G Prabavishnu Prabhu and other senior devotees often visit and preaches in Thailand.
